Board of Adjustment

The purpose of the Board of Adjustment is to hear and decide appeals where it is alleged there is error in any order, requirement, decision, or determination made by the director of Community Development in the administration and enforcement of the Land Development Code.

Among the other duties and responsibilities of the Board of Adjustment is to authorize variances from the provisions of the sections specifically enumerated in Article VIII of the Land Development Code of the City of Temple Terrace, as will not be contrary to the public interest, where, owing to special conditions, a literal enforcement of the provisions will, in an individual case, result in unnecessary hardship, so that the spirit of these regulations shall be observed, public safety and welfare secured, and substantial justice done.

The final responsibility of the board is to act in an advisory capacity to the City Council and to make recommendations to the City Council from time to time concerning the need to study, revise, or amend City codes and ordinances affecting the growth and development of the City in an orderly and efficient manner.
